Anu Osva, Ephippia, 2011, acrylic + lens, 100x90cm, Teoksen oikeassa reunassa kellertävän DNA laikun reunassa on alkuperäisiä vesikirpun lepomunia, joita voi katsoa voimakkaasti suurentavalla linssillä. 1. ‘ Snow Algae, Jehkas’  was painted during the  Särestöniemi symposium in Särestöniemi Museum,  Kaukonen/Kittilä/Lapland, 8. – 27.8.2011. It is a study  of   snow algae  I sampled for microscopy  in Jehkas (Kilpisjärvi) this summer.  Snow algae live in water pillars   between snow  crystals.
2.Ephippia’, the first painting on water theme. Resting eggs of Daphnia and the structure that carries them is called ephippia. Daphnia pulex  is an important scientific model animal and its genome has been sequenced and published.
3. Water Flea Circus participated LAB11, Luleå Art Biennial. Sini Haapalinna performing with a  live projection of water fleas, which are under a  microscope.  more about Water Flea Circus …
4.’Living Water‘  installation with painting, video and sound,  was shown in the exhibition  ‘Getting Warmer – Climate Change in  Contemporary Art’,  Joensuu Art Museum, Joensuu/Finland,  2010.
